In 2008 Stephan and Retief Du Toit developed a boutique vineyard on Le Present; making the “Deux Frères” dream a reality.
Le Present nestles on the foothills of the Simonsberg Mountain in the Stellenbosch winelands district.
New Look For New Releases
The brothers of Deux Frères, Retief and Stephan du Toit, are excited to release their 2015 vintage red wines under a beautiful new label. This boutique cellar at the foothills of the beautiful Simonsberg mountain crafts approximately 18 000 bottles annually with meticulous attention to detail and quality.
The 2015 vintages are available from the farm’s tasting room from 1 June. Devout imbibers of Deux Frères’ elegant wines can look forward to enjoying the Chenin Blanc 2018, Blanc de Noir 2018 (100% Mourvèdre), Liberté 2015 (Cabernet and Shiraz blend), Fraternité 2015 (Shiraz and Mourvèdre blend) and lastly a special release Cabernet Sauvignon 2015.
“I’m convinced it’s the best wine yet from the farm – normally used to blend – but this we had to keep. They say the Simonsberg is Cabernet country – well, here’s your proof. Almost black in colour and packed with fruit, this wine handled 70% new Hungarian oak, with the wood serving as a subtle backing to the wine,” says winemaker Stephan du Toit.
The new label celebrates all they hold dear. It is modern yet elegant, with references to the Du Toit family tree as well as Retief’s passion for cycads. Deux Frères has over 100 cycads from 40 different species on the farm. The label’s unique background colour is similar to the young leaves of certain cycad species. The redesigned estate crest consists of a cycad flanked by two crows, derived from the traditional Du Toit family emblem. The arched typography references the architecture of the estate and the brothers’ signatures serve as confirmation of their commitment to quality. The labels are bold enough to stand out, yet mindful of old world elegance. Much like the wines.
The Du Toit family extend a hearty invitation to come and enjoy the farm’s hospitality and the superb new releases from Deux Frères.
